Here are my own taste notes and review of Cragganmore 25 Year Old 1988 ( Diageo 2014 Special Release , 51.4%) that I wrote during my attendance at the Scottish Craftsmen's Association 19th Anniversary. Whisky Experience last night in Niagara, Ontario.

Color
-Starry gold

Nose
: A remarkable egg nog engulfs along with Granny Smith apples and rice pudding with nutmeg sprinkles. A lovely orange meringue and treacle follows the parade. Heavy thick citrus notes and pungent cedar chest satisfy. Aromatic pipe tobacco wafts into the scene with furniture polish and mixed nut notes with hazels being the prime mover. Lemon meringue gracefully comes along late.

Taste: Full- bodied. Spice and intense incisive wonderful citrus with sweet sprinkles. Tart crab apples, green wood and pine needles emerge.

Finish: Long, layers of spiced oak; the citrus anchor continues to steady the dram. Nothing you would want in this dram is missing here. A level of perfection acheived.

Comments- A mature classy dram, well-balanced and complex. This special dram is worth the 25 year wait.

Rating: 95

Great description once again Murray, I tried this when it was released, an outstanding expression of Cragganmore.
