|
|
My friend and I are thinking about starting to split Scotch bottles. As new drinkers, we want to try it all and have a good selection. We have 15-20 bottles with alot of overlap. For drinks that I really enjoy and drink more often, I obviously want the whole bottle. However, many of them are ones we like that are nice to have, but not a full bottles worth (will probably oxidize before we finish it).
Anyone out there split bottles with others? Any suggestions on nice 375ml decanters that have a good seal (slow oxidation)? |

| I have a around 100 X 100ml sample bottles with resealable caps which I use. My family brought them from Scotland for me. Do a search on google I am sure you will find some wherever you are in the world. They work very well by the way. |

| Decant into smaller bottles is what I always do from 5cl, 10cl and 20cl and always best to fill. |

| I know a few who split the bottles, they tend to swop 200ml bottles, I do tend to swop samples with friends and have quite a few different kinds of bottles for doing this, I find the screw tops are best for this but I do like the cork tops.. |

That brings up a good point. I am seeing alot of choices for bottle tops. What would be best to preserve the whisky? As you mentioned, I have heard before that screw tops are better than cork tops.
What about those flip top beer bottles. those seem to put some pressure on the cork and I'm assuming this creates a good seal? |
