I have had a couple of emails from the Glenlivet about the Glenlivet Cipher, I am sure it is very drinkable, at least I would hope so at £110 a bottle but I will wait for some reviews I think.

I have seen it, I have tried blind tasting but not sure about blind buying at £110 a go. If you plan on opening your bottle MarkH I would love to hear your opinion on it.

Sounds like a very similar routine to the Alpha, which I was lucky enough to try, it was very good and if this is along the same lines then I'm sure it will be excellent.
I'm all for transparency and making an informed purchasing decision and know it's a lot of money for a NAS bottling - but if you were Glenlivet, would you risk putting out something that would damage your reputation? |

Yes sounds very much like the Glenlivet Alpha which they didn't reveal the age of so I doubt they will reveal the age of the Glenlivet Cipher.

Lucky I had a £30 discount offer, that will make it easier to drink.

The Alpha was very good and I would be pretty sure they have bottled something very good for the Glenlivet Cipher. Wasn't there some rule which prevented them revealing the age of the Alpha as they hadn't put the age on the bottle.

I believe there were 3350 bottles of the Alpha which was very good by the way and I thought was worth the money. I would guess there will be around the same number of bottles of the Glenlivet Cipher.

Very tempting as the Alpha was good. I do wonder if it will be a little cheaper when available from other sellers as Selfridges isn't exactly cheap for any whisky.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm sure that it will be cheaper elsewhere when it becomes generally available - I'd like to pick one up but I can wait a while.
