The rest of Aldis Glenmarnoch single malt whisky range is ok for the price, so I cant see why this wouldn't be worth a try if a rum cask finish appeals to you.

Dont think ive ever tried a rum cask......are theré any i would recognise?
On the subject of aldi......my boy worked as a regional manager for them and remember the big fanfare about a 30yo single malt? Most never even hit the shelves as the area directors managers and store managers took them all......things like those specials that are5 per store dont even hit the shelf.

A popular and enjoyable rum cask finish whisky is the Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask, whether Aldi will come anywhere near it for quality you will have to buy it and see. Rum does add very pleasant and desirable to most, sweet toffee notes, considering it is £20 and the Balvenie 14 is almost £50 now I would say it is worth a try. Could be a decent rum finished whisky for dramming during the summer months.

Great to see a supermarket trying to give us something interesting and a low price, fingers crossed it is a good one.

The Glenfiddich 21 Havana/Gran Reserva/Rum finished is another tasty example. The BenRiach did a 15, 17 and 18yro rum finish. I also think the English Whisky Company have done a rum finish - chapter 7?

Ooh - the Springbank rum cask from about 10 years back was good too. Definitely worth a £20 gamble on the Aldi bottling.

Just tried the rum cask. It's a very nice whisky for the 20 quid price tag. Nice about of spice from the rum coming through.

Picked one of these up today. Its ok and certainly good for £20. Not much rum influence and its a bit young and raw, but good for summer dramming.
