What little scotch ancestry I have can be traced to the Mac Cone clan of Ayrshire. I'm curious if there are any distilleries that can be linked to that area, such that my ancestors likely preferred that particular dram?
Perhaps I should mention also that my ancestors emigrated to the colonies before the revolutionary war. Were there any lowland distilleries around back then?
The only Ayrshire distilleries I know of were established in modern times. There was Ladyburn which is sometimes known as Ayrshire, it was established in 1960 and shut in 1975. There is the recently established Ailsa Bay. Then there is the Girvan grain distillery.

Arran is Ayrshire aswell but obviously not old enough.
Not sure how far back you are going but more than likely they got it off a man who new a man that distilled a bit in his shed round the back. _________________ Putting the func in dysfunctional.
