The Islays are terrific by the fireplace, but are too heavy and smoky for the hot and humid Summers of the USA. I am enjoying Dalwhinnie 15 these days but not much else. Can anybody recommend a good summertime dram?

Plenty of great choices - my personal favourite summertime drams are Glencadam 10, Glengoyne 12, and any bourbon-matured Balblair.

Yeah light and floral are going to be perfect. Edradour 2003 Bourbon is one of my faves in the heat

For a light bodied easy drinking whisky in the warmer weather I would suggest looking at Aultmore, Glen Grant, Auchentoshan, Glengoyne, Glenkinchie, Bunnahahbain

echo what most say here.
You're ideally looking for something young - early teens and matured in bourbon casks. You want something light and fruity, with good barley tones that is not being squashed down by heavy casks.
Personally, I like young Balblair, Glencadam and Arran at this time of year as they are very fruity. Balvenie 12yo first fill is also a nice summer dram. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Tormore or go with a grain whisky such as Port Dundas or Strathclyde.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially Aultmore! It is light, grassy, almost lemony - the perfect summer scotch.
