I have been presented with an amazing challenge..

I was sent a bottle of Douglas Laing XOP Caol Ila 37 year old Shocked Top Malt Shocked as a thank you from an unknown customer at work for a job I did.. I have tried to look up who sent it but no one is talking?

My question is do I open it or save it?

Nice gift, 2 options,
1. Sell, if you are not a fan of the distillery, and use the money for something better.
2. Open and drink, but take 2 x 50ml samples for the time you find out who it is from, then you can share a dram with them.

Personally I couldn't resist opening it but on the other hand it could buy you a few bottles of something you know for certain is good and to your own taste. Do let us know what you think of tit if you do open it as we rarely hear opinions on the likes of these bottlings.

Aged Caol Ila is typically very good and the XOP bottlings also have an excellent rep. If you like Islay drams, get it opened.
