Congratulations to Balblair distillery for winning this year's Spirit of Whisky Fringe Award with the vintage 1990! They left behind Glenglassaugh 30yo (2nd), Ghosted Reserve 21yo - William Grant (3rd), Tomatin 36yo - Batch 2 (4th).
There’s always the right crowd in that church…

Not had the others on the list so not fair to compare, but the Balblair 90 is an absolute cracker and a bargain for the price, so I'm honestly not surprised. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

As you probably know, the winner is whisky who gets the most votes from people voting when they are leaving this amazing place. It’s a well established event (tickets are usually sold in 5-7 min) and exhibitors are bringing some really interesting bottles with them (at least for “Half Time Orangeâ€). To win there, among all those whisky anoraks it’s rather remarkable.
I attended the festival twice - both time the winner was our dearly departed Tomatin 30 (OB). Balblair 1990 has proven to be a worthy successor… |

| I have been to a few whisky fringes, a great event but not easy to get tickets unless you are around online the minute they are released. Gave it a miss the last few years. |
