I suppose it depends on what your price range actaully is
I recently bought a bottle of Springbank local barley which for me was one of the nicest whiskys I have tried I paid £100 for it and think this will be a collectable due to it being a limited edition and usually the local barely gets great reviews
I'm not sure if it's possible to get a future collectable for under £75 unless your lucky and like in the case of the Glendronach 15 managed to get a few bottles just before they discontinued it for a few years
A few distilleries are now disconituing a few whiskys due to the fact they can't keep up with the demand |

Right now Laphroaig 18yo is one you buy for a rainy day. Discontinued and already going up in price.
Also, anything with a decent age statement on it, 18yo up. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I bought three bottles of The Macallan 25th Anniversary about ten or fifteen years ago. I only have part of one bottle left. I wish I had more. |

Hi guys, I'm new here and new to the whisky world, hell I've tried a few, and many my old man brings back from when he goes to Serbia (uncle brews himself) amongst others.
Just a quick question and help if possible,
I have a little lad who's turning one, and I was thinking what would be the best whisky to get so that we can keep until at least he's 21 (hopefully by then the value would of gone up so he could enjoy it)
Like I said I'm pretty clueless to whisky, and which will do well in years to come if they were untouched.
Many thanks!

If hindsight were 20/20 I would have invested in The Macallan 25th Anniversary. My first bottle was about $125. I have recently seen it for over $4,000. It is probably the best Scotch that I have ever had. |

| To buy something now for drinking in 20 years is a hard one.. look for something limited.. if it was me I'd possibly look at something like Rosebank, poss about £150-upwards but in 20 years it will be triple that if you can find it !! Otherwise look at what is limited today again because it won't be too easily found later in life.. |

| Where can you buy this now and what was the original price? How much are you likely to pay for it ? None of my usual sources have it. |

| You will find some bottles on line and in good retail shops ( whisky shops) the distillery is ling closed so stocks are dwindling and prices are only going to go up and up.. |

You may struggle with Rosebank.
I picked up a bottle of the 2011 (21yo) special release a few years back from Amazon for £140, I dread to think of the price now, probably £400 or so and only going to go up.
You'll be lucky to find something sub-300..... _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |
