I had the 21 Portwood when I visited Balvenie, it was lovely. Have never tried any of the Tun's - always a bit too pricey for me Sad Would love to try it.

A quick look online and it seems you can get 2 bottles of the 21yo for the price of a Tun 1509...

If I had the choice I would go for the Balvenie Tun 1509 as the Portwood should be around for some time yet.

Yup, as much as I love the portwood.......I'd get the Tun. Unless the price is astronomical , which it very much could be.

The Balvenie 21 Portwood is excellent but as JKD said it will probably be around for some time yet. The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 3 is outstanding and I can highly recommend it if you get the chance to get a bottle. You can read my review of the Tun 1509 batch 3 here http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/balvenietun1509batch3.htm

Joe, where are you crossing? Do you have a link or website with a list of available Whisky?

Crossed at Ivy Lea Thousand islands. The 21 portwood was 219 CAD and the the Tun was 379. I've yet to try either but went with the 21. They only have four bottles of the Tun left..maybe I should have went tha way.. Question

Sorry to say but yes you should have.. I Hunted like Crazy to obtain a 1509 batch 3, and now I have opened it I've found it almost on a Par with Some of the 1401s.

Having Said that the 21 is still very good...

379 for a tun 1509 batch 3 ?!? I might've bought 2 bottles.

If you want to go back, I'll drive out and buy the portwood from you.

Could only buy one to bring back as that's what customs allow. The 21 fit better into my budget so the Tun is going to wait..

That's a great price for the batch 3. I finally found it the other day but couldn't pull the trigger on the $550CAD price tag.

Don't you have to be gone 48 hours before you can bring back a bottle? You were gone 24 hours?
