Anybody planning on going?
Anybody been before? If so any tips for a newbie? |

Some go to this event to experience whiskies that is way out of their price range, some to sample whiskies they are considering buying, whatever you are going for you cant taste them all so have a look to see what is available and plan what you would like to taste. It is a brilliant show, I am sure you will love it. |

Thanks Charlie - sound advice. If I can I'd like to do a Masterclass too but I know the places are very limited. Quality not quantity is key here I think and some planning sounds like a great idea
I'm really looking forward to it and I'm sure it will be fantastic. I was hoping to get to Islay this year but alas that is not going to happen so we decided to do this instead. Islay, maybe next year... |

| I'll be there! Very much looking forward to it. Had tickets for last year but had an emergency trip out to China and had to give my tickets to some friends. A barrage of smug photos ensued. Not letting it happen again this year! |

| I missed out on those tickets unfortunately - looks superb! I'm there on Sunday too. Looking forward to it immensely. Also in the fortunate position that I know a handful of the ambassadors at a few different brands. Hoping to make good use of those contacts! |

I was very surprised to get one, no sooner had they come on sale then they were sold out - I don't know how many were available but I guessing it was pretty limited and they were clearly in huge demand.
It's not cheap but I'm sure it will be worth the extra cost (it does include 9 drams) and I guess it's not everyday you get the chance to attend an event like that with such high profile guests
I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless, especially if you have a few key contacts |

| The bowmore tasting looks excellent. Bowmore black 2nd edition, bowmore 30 sea dragon, bowmore 25, bowmore 1964, bowmore deluxe 1970s and the tempest 10. Shame it's £250. But some (probably) never ever get another opportunity drams in there. |

Indeed, if money were no object!
They've announced a few more masterclasses, shame the Glenfarclas one is only on the Saturday, would have liked to attend that one, and the Lagavulin one too.
I'm sure the one I'm going to will be awesome and I guess going to more than one may be considered greedy, not to mention the huge number of drams you would have to taste!
It's getting close now |

Sounds like you're going to have a great time JW. The only thing keeping me away is the
5,735 km between here and there. Best of luck to you! _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Thanks mate - I'm going to try really looking forward to it. Is there anything comparable on your side of the water? |

JW, there are some yearly whisky shows here in Ontario, Whisky Live in Toronto
http://www.whiskylive.com/canada/175/toronto-2016
and Spirit of Toronto
http://spiritoftoronto.ca/
These are one night events.
The one I look forward to is the annual Evening of Scottish Virtuosity put on by Vintages/LCBO which has in the past had some super-premium drams including Macallan No. 6 Lalique , last year. (No date yet for this show, likely in Jan. 2017).
Montreal has a show around the corner at casino de Montreal
http://link.casinosduquebec.com/v/443/e9ec74aa46c9e0f481cb614d9ccbc680adf4d5ca7dbd93ef
See SwirlTO thread as well for another show under Whisky Events.
Cheers. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
