|
|
I like to have between 8 - 12 bottles of Single Malt in my collection at all times so that I have a choice and also for when friends visit.
I currently have some Glenfiddichs 12-18yrs, Jura, Glenmorangie 10 and Midwinter Nights Dram, Arbelour 10 and 12, Starthisla 12.
I have been thinking of adding a Lagavulin 16 and an Ardbergh
I would like to have a really nice balanced range consisting of light, fruity and peaty Whisky's and also a mix of 'commercial' and less commercial.
I am happy to pay between £30-£70 per bottle so I just wanted to get some good suggestions.
So, if you had the above agenda in mind and could choose 10 Bottles that fall within these guidelines, what would you have?
All suggestions greatfully received. _________________ "No, Try Not! Do or Do Not, there is no try!!" Yoda |

In my malt world brands are less important than wood or design of expressions.
My open cabinet is looking more like this:
- Sherried classic (Glendronach 21, Glengoyne 21)
- Middle of the Road (Glengoyne 18, Glandronach 15/18, Glenfarclas 21/25...)
- Easy starters (Balblair-bourbon, Balvenie-rum casks, Glentauchers...)
- Wine Finish (Edradour CS...)
- Port Finish (Glendronach 18 Tawny Port...)
- Easy going (sherry) / Overvatted (Glenfiddich 21, Glenfiddich AoD Trio, Dalmore King Alec III...)
- Other / diverse bottles (max 5 bottles) |

Thank you for your suggestions so far, some very interesting and useful info here.
Glenfarclas seems to be a popular choice and not a whisky I have tried before so this definitely needs to be in my cabinet - as does an Ardbeg whisky it seems.
Balvenie 14 and 17 Doublewoods are on my Christmas list so it looks like a very Merry Christmas ahead _________________ "No, Try Not! Do or Do Not, there is no try!!" Yoda |
