Diageo have launched a new Haig Club expression here in the UK. The new Haig Club Clubman slots in below the existing Haig Club and is priced at £25
You can read my review of the new Haig Club Clubman here:

I am sure we will see this on offer around Christmas for around £20 if it is available in the big supermarkets. |

| Sounds worth a try at £25 and I like to dabble with a bit of DIY blending so should be handy for that. |

| Sounds good, I will give it a go at £25, Pete I like your idea for using it for a bit of DIY blending. |

| I thought the first Haig Club was ok, better than most young grain whiskies but way over priced at £40 odd pound. Grain whisky is a different style category and will never have the body and flavours found in single malts, it is supposed to be light and full of vanilla and toffee flavours and that is what I found in the first Haig Club and it sounds like the Clubman may be a little better and certainly better priced considering we will probably see it on sale for around a fiver less than its RRP of £25. I will give it a go before condemning it but I am sure Williams review of it is accurate as I have found his other reviews. |

| Totally agree with what you have said Cuba. A young single grain is never going to offer the depth of flavours you can find in some single malts of similar age, you will find vanilla and toffee flavours and you really shouldn't buy a young single grain whisky if you are expecting much more. Williams review certainly describes what you would expect to find in the Clubman considering it has matured solely in bourbon casks, no doubt I will give it a go as I do enjoy a single grain when the mood takes me. |

| Other than being over priced the first Haig Club was ok, it was what I expected it to be, I only bought one bottle as it wasn't worth its price tag, and I am not a big grain whisky fan. Jim Murray rated the original Haig Club at 88/100 which I thought was about right. It did get a lot of revues knocking it because of its price, the David Beckham celebrity connection and I am sure many of these revues were from drinkers who were perhaps not familiar with grain whisky. |

| I have to say I find most single grain whisky a little boring and lacking what I am looking for in I a whisky, I did buy a bottle of the original Haig Club out of curiosity. It is very harsh IMO to say it was a bad whisky, it was what I expected and as a grain whisky I would have scored it 82/100 |

| I guess Jim has lost a customer as that is what he rated it in my copy of the bible
I have to say I found it ok, it is never going to rock a malt whisky drinkers world but I would say Jims review is spot on and I am sure Williams review is spot on also, As far as scores, everyone's tastes varies but I have found most knowledgeable reviewers have rated the Haig Club 80 plus out 100 I would say 84 |

| Ralfy I would be positive that Williams review of the new Clubman would be an accurate description of what you will find in the bottle, I find his knowledge of whisky and rating of whisky to be very accurate, he has lead me to more than a few superb whiskies via his reviews over the years. Obviously personal tastes vary and it is clear from your description of the first Haig Club that you did not like it nor appreciate the profile of single grain whisky. I very much doubt you would appreciate the new Clubman but why not buy a bottle for yourself rather than wait for others to buy a bottle. |

| Cheers for your review William. I haven't had that much experience of single grain, sticking mostly to single malts but what I have had has been very easy drinking and this sounds much the same, I will certainly give this a try at £25, why wouldn't you. |
