Hi All,

I'm pretty new to drinking whisky and I'm still trying to find "my drink". I have been trying various bottles of the most reputable brands and finishing them. What I'd like to do is keep a little bit (50-100ml) as a reminder, perhaps for a few months/ years, so I can go back and compare them.

I was thinking as soon as I open the original bottle, pour it straight into a miniture (such as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00OQ46VXG/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1476482887&sr=1-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=miniature+bottles&dpPl=1&dpID=41kvpiURMZL&ref=plSrch ). Then refrigerating until needed.

Would this work, or would the flavour change too much over time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Steved

You will find many whisky drinkers decant samples of their whisky into miniature bottles to sample again in the future. Your amazon link goes to an error page but I would recommend small 50 - 100ml glass sample bottles, avoid plastic bottles and fill them to the top leaving as little air in the bottle as possible as the air in the bottle interacts with the whisky and will start to alter/deteriorate its character.

No need to refrigerate, just store them in a cool dark place and make sure the cap is on tight.

Hi Forbes,

Thanks for your reply, it's good to have a little reassurance that I'm not going to be wasting my time and money before I start. Wink
