Just spotted a flash looking lalique bottled macallan in heathrow T5. Called ocean liner or similar. A snip at £28000. Only 50 decanters apparently, one of which was just sold (not to me!). Bonkers. The bloke standing there assured me it's from casks laid in 1937. Not sure I believe that!

Did some reading online. Indeed it was distilled in 1937. Crazy.

This link shows off the images more clearly, copy and paste.

What I don't understand is distilled 1937 bottled 1971 and rebottled in 2015. So it's actually 34 yr old Macallan . Pretty pointless repackaging exercise......for big bucks.

Or they found a few cases of 1937!fine and rare and decided to go for the full pisstake as did Glemmo with the "archived in glass " rerelease of some old vintage a couple of years ago.

I was also through T5 Thursday, it is 28k, there will be 5, one a year, they mirror the new packaging often of the nas travel range - t5 did sell one, they have a dummy at the moment but getting another shortly. Guy didn't know much about the whisky and clearly didn't think he needed to and would be selling soon as a trophy bottle.
