|
Just been having a read of this http://blog.thewhiskyexchange.com/2016/09/diageo-special-releases-2016/
I suspect it's another set of releases that will be way outside of most of our budgets, with perhaps the exceptions of the Caol Ila and the Lagavulin...
For the collectors? Destined never to be drunk? |

Oh dear.
I've had many in the past, from Lagavulin through Auchroisk, Rosebanks and to Talisker 30yos. All of them have been drunk or will be drunk.
The prices are giddy. My Rosebank cost £120 and one of the Talisker 30ys only £190.....oh how the world has gone mad.
No. These are for collectors and investors only. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Amazon had the previous Talisker 30 on lightning deal a few days ago for £230...I had it in my basket and stupidly deleted it again... |

| What can I say, I guess they must be pretty confident of the quality of the Cragganmore if they're charging that much for it. It may well be amazing for all I know, but the price - with no info provided other than types of casks - is ridiculous. |

| No doubt I will have a bottle or 2 of the Lagavulin 12. Yes it will be interesting to see how fast they shift the Cragganmore |

| Just 2 Brora's and 1 Port Ellen for me or perhaps just a couple of Lagavulin 12s again. |

That is by far the most expensive no age statement whisky I have heard of to date, surely they wouldn't be able to offload 4,932 of them at £400 a go.
Other than the Brora and Port Ellen I wouldn't mind trying the Linkwood. |

With the maturing stock which Diageo has to hand, I wish they would do some special releases of some younger and more affordable for everyday drinking whisky, perhaps a "Diageo Small Batch Series", all non chill filtered each from no more than a vatting of 10 casks, bottled at 46% - 50%, and aged no more than 18 years. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| That sounds like a great idea William but will be very surprised if it happens. Totally agree that they should release some more affordable, drinking whiskies. |

Except maybe older IB as Cadenhead and G&M. It seems that they still have large stock of older casks. |
