I watched this last night,. Probably focused a bit on Springbank as they are quite rare in the Scotch whisky industry, Scottish owned, meaning Scotland and the people of Scotland benefit more from the Springbank distillery, more so than it does with the large multi-national owned whisky companies.
The industry likes to shout about how much Scotland benefits but in reality much of the profits are not staying in Scotland. |

| I watched it last night while enjoying a dram, it was ok. Hopefully other episodes in the series will focus on the massive marketing machine behind Scotch whisky and the premiumisation of whisky in the past 10 years or so and the way prices have soared for single malts multiplying the whisky companies profits. They could perhaps even look at the possibility of collusion between companies with regards to pricing as one company would not have decided to go it alone with some of the massive price increases we have seen over recent years, they all increased the prices, dramatically increasing the value of their maturing stock and continue to do so. |

Thanks for the link Danners! Watched the second episode yesterday and I was stunned when the presenter managed to win a Rosebank 12yo for £90 at McTear's. £90?! It made me rush off and have a look at McTear's but I see an identical bottle of Rosebank 12yo sold 3 days ago for £190 (£150-£250 estimate as you'd expect). Either he got an incredible bargain or that wasn't the actually bottle he was bidding on. Or perhaps this segment was recorded many years ago when Rosebank wasn't so expensive.
Looking forward to the 3rd and final episode. |

I noticed it is popping up on various YouTube channels now:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk9zCO2mvaY
If that doesn't work there are several others that might not be region-locked to the UK.
The title to search for is: Scotch! The Story of Whisky

| I got round to watching the first episode the other night. I enjoyed it a lot and it does highlight just how many of the distilleries are now part of the massive corps. Definitely will try and buy more from independant distilleries in future! |

I found the series gets better as it goes on. It's charmingly and passionately presented, but more of a general snapshot of the current world of whisky than a deep-dive into its darker corners |

I am happy to be able to view it, but did they have to reduce the quality down to 360p.
Most annoying to see anything in such poor resolution. |
