|
|
| I see this phrase being used (myself included) and was wondering the true meaning/use of it. Is it more for the very last dram of a bottle or having the last couple to finish it off - realizing that only one drink left too long in the bottle would likely degrade quick with all the air above? |

I use it to mean that bottle is emptied, and usually that involves having the last few in a bottle, as you say. I hate leaving a dram or 2 in the bottle for the reasons you state.
I do imagine that most people.simply mean that the bottle is empty and now 'dead' _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

| I would use it to refer to finishing off a bottle whether it was the last dram or last few drams. In the past I have seriously misjudged what is left in some wide bottomed bottles and ended up pouring a very large dram to finish off the bottle. |

I've done the same. I actually measure mine out now. Have a large bottle of Glenfiddich 12 and looks very low but there's at least 3 pours left... |

Glad I'm not the only one who does this too! _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

I sometimes like to sample a few different scotches when sitting down for the evening so measuring keeps things in check. Also good practice when the abv% varies up to 20% depending on the bottling. |

I just killed a bottle of Highland Park 25 last night. If I hadn't killed the bottle it would have evaporated. |
