Wife objects to peat aroma in marital bed. Gargling & brushing does not work. Don't know if it is in the mouth or out of pores. Any antidote?

Inaugurate her into the world of whisky. If she's been drinking Ardbeg too then she won't complain, and sharing your whisky is cheaper in the long run than getting a new wife or a bigger house.

A new wife can be expensive so probably not the way to go. A large glass of water before bed or hot milky coffee may help.

Mate of mine has to drink his whisky in the shed down the garden as his missus reckons his favourite Old Pultney makes the house smell! She should be thankful it's not Octomore..

As it happens my missus hates peated whisky with a passion. I always make sure to give her the full peat experience when I'm dramming anything remotely smokey/peaty. When she moans (and trust me she does) I ask, "Would you rather I didn't show you how much I love you?"

Although my wife doesn't drink whisky she can identify which peaty whisky I am drinking just by sitting near me, she will always recognise Ardbeg without fail, even from 10ft away across the room.

Great question. I've already been 'banned' from drinking Laphroaig and Ardbeg when my girlfriend is in the same house (doesn't even need to be in the same room). I just picked up a bottle of Octomore 6.1.. not sure if she will appreciate it much...

A shot of creme de menthe or limoncello? Then again you don't want to be smelling like second-rate toilet bleach either.

Try following your smoky Scotch with a good, STRONG cigar. That ought to work. Wink
