I'm looking for a fairly simple but enjoyable dram for this time of year for myself and guests. Have had the 15yr numerous times and really enjoy it. The distillers edition intrigues me. Anyone tried both and have a recommendation on their favorite?
Thanks! |

Thanks for the response. Does it still have the classic smoky and heather honey notes with this cask finish? |

| I keep reading about that subtle smoke in Dalwhinnie 15 but have yet to detect it myself - maybe my palate is just not sensitive enough! I do like it mind. Like with many of the Distillers' Editions, the Dalwhinnie DE is a sweeter version of the regular 15, and an enjoyable one to boot. |

| The sherry does add some enjoyable fruit, I was a little disappointed with the Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition which I found had a bit of bitterness, I wouldn't recommend it as something special but a must try if you are a Dalwhinnie fan, it is debatable whether it is worth the extra cost over the excellent standard Dalwhinnie 15. I felt the sherry helped bring out a little more of the Dalwhinnies subtle smoke. |
