Evening all. Trying to get some approximate valuations for several whiskeys that have been left to me, but I'm not having much luck locally and wondered if you could help.
First is a bottle of Gilbey's Spey Royal Scotch Whisky: no date of m'facture on the bottle, but I'm guessing it dates back to before 1962 (which is when Gilbey's became IDV)- so at least 50 years old.
Second is a bottle of Grant's Stand Fast whisky. Triangle bottle, rounded shoulders. Again, no date of m'facture, but looking at the label it appears identical to the 1961 adverts- so about 50 years old.
Third- a bottle of 'Ye Treasure Trove' whisky, bottled by Connolly & Oliveri ltd of Leith. No idea of age. Label tatty.
Finally- a bottle of 'Highland Queen' whisky (round bottle) bottled by Macdonald & Muir. Agan, no idea of age. Label tatty.
All four bottles have intact seals.
I've got pictures, if that helps. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could best dispose of these, or can recommend a good broker/vitner in the Nottingham (UK) area, I'd be much obliged. Please use the forum or email me at tim(dot)turtles(at)ntlworld(dot)com. Many thanks. |

I really wouldnt like to hazard a guess at their value in case i misguide you but i would recommend contacting Bonhams auction in Edinburgh or McTears auctioneers in Glasgow, they both specialise in whisky and hold a couple of whisky auctions a year.
They will know the current market and estimated value better than i could tell you and they are usually quite helpful, they both have a website which you can contact them through.
Another option is The Whisky Exchange who also buys whisky as well as selling it.
