Nope.

It seems that they pick people from 'Random' - I say this with caution, because every high end whisky intergram user of high end blogger will find a bottle in there hands.

Don't lose hope yet. It's been over a week since their Buffalo Trace ballot ended and they still haven't emailed the winners of that yet.

I really do despise these "enter a ballot to see if you win the wonderful opertunity to purchase an (often) over rated and (always) over priced whisky"

Amen! Always had a good experience with the WE but can't be doing with these things. I'm sure not long ago they had a similar ballot but you could only enter if you bought an £80 bottle of malt! Bit cheeky.
Not for me thanks...

Billy from TWE here: both Lagavulin and BTAC emails are going out today – probably this evening.

Lists have just been finalised, we're just slotting them into the sending queue for the day.

Aint that the truth.. what gets me is they could have my cash and now they have done this. I suppose they dont care because there are enough out there who will and its marketed as making it available fairly to all of us? Thats a free market I suppose! Am off to check out the indie bottlers although with some of the recent offerings I wouldnt be surprised if we have to pay to have the right to bid for the right to pay for the bottle of what ? Its a drink for gods sake. Got to be in it to win it.. jeez, good luck to you all..

I came across the ballot by chance when looking for a birthday present and I got the email to say I'd been selected so I can confirm it is definitely random!

I have to say I think the ballot for the Lagavulin 1991 Single Cask was a fair way to have run this, I can only assume it was run in a fair way and on this occasion it will benefit a number of good causes on Islay. I hope those of you who were after a bottle got lucky.

I thought it was a fair enough way to allocate the Lagavulin 1991, clearly they predicted a huge interest in it and there is nothing more annoying when they launch a whisky online and they sell out before you have a chance to buy it., at least with a ballot you have the same chance as everyone else.

I would have loved to have tasted this but it would have been too large a chunk out of my whisky budget for one bottle.

Well done to those who were successful. I wasn't. May still get one if auction prices don't go silly (won't be holding my breath).
