The Macallan creates exclusive collection for travel-retail. The 1824 collection of single malt expressions is already available in Europe and the Americas and has just been launched in Asia.
Supplier Maxxium Travel Retail has introduced a range of The Macallan single malt whiskies created exclusively for travel-retail. The 1824 collection includes four expressions"Select Oak, Whisky Maker's Edition, Estate Reserve and 1824 Limited Release"with prices ranging from €46 ($65) to €1,450 ($2,060).
The first three products in the new range are already available in key duty-free locations in Europe and the Americas, and have just been launched in Asia at Singapore Changi airport. Select Oak (pictured) has also secured listings on board several airlines including British Airways, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and Continental Airlines. The 1824 Limited Release decanter will be on sale from October 2009.
Maxxium Travel Retail managing director Glen Williams said: "The Macallan has surpassed itself by introducing this exclusive range for travel-retail. Maxxium Travel Retail was asked to support the early introduction and was able to launch the range in key locations in Europe. Customers Gebr Heinemann, Autogrill and Aelia were among the first to introduce the range to travellers. The initial responses have been enthusiastic and acknowledge the quality of the spirit that The Macallan is known for."?
The Edrington Group area director, global travel-retail William Ovens added: "The Macallan has enjoyed the most dynamic growth of any single malt in the global travel-retail market over the past few years. In this period global travel-retail has become the third-largest market for the brand, in large part due to the success of innovative new products. The 1824 collection opens a new chapter in the illustrious history of The Macallan and we are confident that consumers will react positively to this exclusive and eye-catching new range."?
