|
|
Highland Park have launched a new look for its core whisky range which takes inspiration from the distilleries Orkney Island home Viking history. The whiskies have also been given a Viking related sub brand name such as the Highland Park 12 year old Viking Honour and the Highland Park 18 year old Viking Pride. The whisky in the bottle remains the same.

| Forgive my cynicism, but this sounds like an excuse to put the price up - i.e., we'll pay more money to get the same whisky. I hope I'm wrong. |

The design does look like it's trying to make it's way into a slightly different target market, one that is younger and more fashion conscious. I suspect it will push the price up a little but I think Highland Park 12 is one of the best value drams on the shelf so I don't mind that.
Hopefully it will drive more people to buy more Single Malt, which is something we all want isn't it? |

Yes - provided that supply keeps up with demand. |

And that this supply to demand doesnt decrease the quality of the product.
Obviously some will and some wont but for me though thats the fun. Finding the ones that take your breath away. Make you fall in love with the spirit all over again.
Ps. Quite like the new design of the bottle and label. |

| I notice on the newly revamped HP website that a 10yo appears to be the entry level bottle now with a RRP of £30. So it's looking rather like this reworking will mean prices of the 12yo will go up. I imagine the new 10yo taking the place of the 12yo in the supermarkets and periodically getting reduced to £25 as the 12yo used to be. Probably worth stocking up on the old 12yo if you can get it for under £30. |

I noticed that too. I also noticed that it mentions for selected markets which sounds a little ambiguous and made me wonder if it was for export but I'll guess we'll see |

| There has been a Highland Park 10 year old for quite some time now but it was not generally available here in the UK market, I believe it was sold in Canada and the Scandinavian countries. I see that they are listing the 10 year old in the UK version of the new website, either that or there new website is serving the same list of bottling's for all countries just with a different language. |

Fergie I have just been browsing the new Highland Park web site, it does appear that you can select your country but it is really your language you are selecting as you are served the same list of whiskies no matter where you are. If you click on the detail of the Highland Park 10 year old it does say "only available in selected countries".
I notice they don't have a category for duty free bottlings, you have to click on each bottle to see if it is travel retail or not which isn't very helpful |

Well, I received a new-style bottle of 12YO from Amazon today. It cost me £24.50. A couple of days ago, I noticed that my local Tesco was offering it for £25.
So far, so good.

I went with the Tesco's option so I take it back, it looks like they're keeping the same pricing structure for the new 12yo. And very nice it is too! Loving the new styling. |
