Here is one for the Balvenie fans amongst you to look out for on your travels this summer, they have just released The Balvenie Peated Triple Cask 14 Year Old. We have seen some Balvenie whisky matured in peated casks in the past but this is an actual peated whisky which has been produced from 100% peated barley, the specification of the barley being 30 PPM Phenols.

The new which joins the Balvenie's travel retail core range, it will be available from this month with a RRP of £65.

Very interesting, I have always been a Balvenie fan but they have went very quiet in recent times. Hopefully they will have this at Glasgow airport next month as I shall have a bottle or 2. Shame it is only a 70cl size bottle.

Hi James I am pretty sure it will be on the shelves in Glasgow by next month. I was talking to Jennifer at World of Whiskies in Glasgow airport last weekend and she said that she had been to the training session on the new whisky which they have to educate the staff on new releases, she didn't have an exact date but said it should be on the shelves soon, she also commented that it was very good.

It may well have been put on shelves today as today was the official announcement date for its launch. I will be through Glasgow airport a few times before July, I will let you know if I see it.

The mix of the triple cask maturation and the peated Balvenie does sound appealing, good to see another Speyside distillery doing some peated stuff.

Thanks William for the heads-up! I'll be passing through Heathrow soon so will try and get a sample if they have a bottle open. I'm glad to see it's going to be part of Balvenie's core range so there's no rush to buy it this trip. Hopefully they'll have it on a discount over the next year or two.

Glasgow airport had the new Balvenie 14 Peated Triple Cask on the shelf on Friday when I passed through but they didn't have any for tasting yet but they should be getting some. They have also now got the Balvenie 21 year old Madeira Cask which was launched a couple of months ago.

Heathrow has it too - I bought a bottle last week.

Can't believe how long it has taken the 21 Madeira cask to hit the shelves. I bough t a bottle of it in March 2016 in Asia!
