Whisky Forum - Scotch on the rocks

I am looking for a new suggestion for my scotch on the rocks.
Bourbon tends to do well on the rocks, but as much as I have enjoyed the basil haden bottle, I am looking for a change. In general I am not a big bourbon fan, and I don't want to water down my single malt (that is said, the Glenmorangie Lasanta does well with a small ice cube).
What blended scotch do you guys use on the rocks? I have heard that the JW Platinum is enjoyable on the rocks. I have never tasted the Platinum. I have tried the Black, double black, green and blue. I enjoyed the blue, but can't say I wasn't a fan of the others.

What about the Chivas 18?

I am open for other suggestions too.

Everyone should drink whisky whatever way they best enjoy it but I doubt you will find many on here who take their whisky with ice

Being experimental is all part of the fun for me so what ever you buy just chuck a cube in and see, as for you not liking the jw green I'm surprised! I just love it , so much flavour which over Xmas I will be having a few, the black 12 is solid also .

You've mentioned bourbon... have you tried American whiskey? I tried Michters American Whiskey and quite liked it. It might suit your on the rocks tipple?

I cant really comment on whether a whisky is good with ice or not as I never put ice in my whisky but I can say if you are looking a good quality blend with a Speyside style to it then have a look at Ballantines 17 year old

ralfy, as of monday I have tried all the basic JW range except of the gold reserve. Black, green, platinum and blue. Here is my take:
Black and green: similar in taste. Not a fan. The green is a bit better than the black.
Blue: refined. too pricy for what it delivers.
Platinum: This is the one that stands out because its quite different than the remainder JWs. Slightly smokey. I bet they used some Islay malts in it.

Webdunk, yes i have tried american, canadian, japanese and taiwanese whisky, but I don't remember Michters.

The reason behind me asking about Scotch on the rocks is that summer was dragging on a bit here in Toronto so I was looking for a bottle to enjoy the last couple of weeks of "Toronto's summer" with. I ended up working that bottle of glenmorangie Lasanta. I have to say a small ice cube brings up different flavours out of the lasanta. Now that the fall is coming upon us, I'll be back drinking my gorgeous liquid neat :D . Oh well "tough life" :D .
