Laphroaig Live 2009 will be broadcast live from the Maker's Mark distillery in Kentucky, USA. Why the Maker's Mark Distillery? That is because Laphroaig mature their whisky in Maker's Mark barrels so they think it is a fitting collaboration and as John Campbell the Laphroaig distillery manager said in his newsletter it's a bit sunnier there than on Islay so it should be a lovely setting!
They will be holding the event on Friday 25th September 2009 at 20:00 (EST - Kentucky time!). For anyone in Europe this will actually be on Saturday 26th September due to the time difference. 1.00am here in the UK i think. Anyway i guess this is aimed at an American audience given the time of the event.
I havent got any details about this years event yet such as the web address but will post it here when i get it.

Hi Craig
Laphroaig usually put a recording of the Laphroaig Live on their site after the event for those who miss the live event, i am sure they will do the same again this year.

Hi just got an update from Laphroaig confirming the final details for Laphroaig Live 2009.
The online event will be happening on Friday 25th September at 8pm Kentucky time which I'm told is Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). That works out at 1am on Saturday 26th for the UK. The video will be available a week or so later on the Laphroaig website for you to watch at your leisure.
They will be tasting a range of Laphroaig expressions including the 10 Year Old, the new 18 Year Old and finally the 25 Year Old.
Laphroaig have a special webpage set up which has a countdown on it as well as some further information on the event. You can find it here www.distillerylive.us.com
You can submit your quetions on this site and if it is read out during the live show will receive a special prize.
To work out the time of the show in your country visit

Just thought i would bump this post up to remind you this takes place tonight, well early hours of tomorrow morning, 1am in the UK.
Anyway i got this through from Laphroaig about it:
| Quote: | The website is now live and you can go on to familiarise yourself with it before the live webcast begins. As you will see there is an area where you need to input your name. This will allow you to watch the live show and also to submit any questions you want on the night. There is also an area which gives you a brief synopsis of the event and also shortened biographies of each of our panelists.
I have included all the details again below so that you have the web address to hand:
Distillery live online whisky tasting
When: Friday 25th September 2009
Where: www.distillerylive.us.com
Time: 20:00 EDT (Saturday 26th September 01:00 British Summer Time) | John |

I just passed my lunch hour watching the recording of this, unfortunately i had no Laphroaig to taste while watching it. It was ok but they kind of dragged it out with the whisky/food bit at the end which was of no interest to me. Here is the link to the video

I see what you mean Harvey, it did turn into a bit of a cooking show at the end. This seems to be popular now, either cooking with whisky or pairing it with food. Personally this is of no interest to me either.

There does seem to be a bit of a marketing push towards pairing whisky with food, it is of no interest to me either.
