Read a few reports about this not being much better than the 12! So can I pick your brains on this one please! If I get the 16 will it be money well spent at £46?

Aberlour dropped the ABV from 43% to 40% for the 16 year old which took some of the pleasure out of it for me and of course the price has since gone up like most whiskies, I would rate the 16 above the 10 and 12 but they can be bought much cheaper.

Is it the double matured? I prefer the 18 yo myself but I've been lucky enough to get bottles from the distillery shop for around £55.

The distillery is no longer charging £55 for the 18yo unfortunately. I was there in August with high hopes, but it was up at a standard price in the £80 to £90 area, can't remember exactly. The distillery exclusive cask strength got my money instead.

Personally I'd get more enjoyment from 2 bottles of 10 or 12. If you've never had it, I'd say go for it, it's a nice dram, but you're going to get better value with the younger variants.

I've tried the 10 and 12 many times so thought it was just the natural think to try the 16? Sainsburys have it now at £40, anyway so many whiskies so little time to try them all hehehe, wish I would have found whisky years ago.
