Hi guys,

Just received a very interesting gift from my Grandmother. Apparently my late Grandfather was given it some time ago, but as he was not a drammer it had been sitting in the loft. It’s unopened, the box has some signs of wear, just from being moved about presumably but pristine condition.

Contains a Talisker 10, Cragganmore 12, Lagavulin 16, Dalwhinnie 15, Oban 14 and Glenkinchie 10. Michael Jackson died in 2007 and I note from his Wikipedia that the video was made in 1992. If the box was released around then it means the Lagavulin in particular could well stem from 1975/76 which interests me. Of course, the video may predate the box also.

I’d be very interested to hear your comments on this lovely keepsake.

Cheers!

United Distillers and Vintners, who are now owned by Diageo, launched the Classic Malts of Scotland in 1988, there was a lot of these box sets sold over the years I would imagine. A great keepsake or if you enjoy a dram you could raise a few glasses to your grandfather. The video could be interesting if it still plays, videos tend to deteriorate over time.

Cheers! Yes, very much enjoy a dram. Might be interesting to taste alongside more recent bottles as I have a few of these in the collection!
