|

Hi,
I recently inherited a Glenfarclas bottle and am in need of information about it as I am having tremendous difficulty finding out anything about it. I am in the US; I hope that doesn't disqualify me from any assistance.
It has a Missouri state tax stamp on it that dates from 1945-49 as evidenced by Edmund Burke's name. The federal tax strip is missing across the lid but the sides are still attached. The bottle has never been opened and the liquor is at about mid-shoulder. There is no label on the back.
The only other label I've found on the internet had text saying it was 8 years old but that doesn't apply to this bottle.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Code is not my forte, I hope I got the images posted correctly. Please see response below for images.
Thanks,
Becky

| Hi Beater, looks like your image link is broken. There a couple of useful resources for identifying old bottles, I can send you some details if you like. |

Apologies for the additional reply but I see that if I click on the broken images, it takes me to Photobucket and the pictures. Regardless, I’ll see if I can fix them here.
Thanks. |

Oh. I had followed the posted directions for sharing an image in a post. I am code illiterate so the other option made zero sense to me. What’s the best way to share?
Thanks |

Hopefully this works and the images are shown. Please let me know otherwise.
Thanks

Thanks for those fascinating links! So those were the 8 year old then and likely not my bottle?
I did see that 8 year old bottle over on Whisky Paradise but it is quite literally the only other similar bottle I've been able to locate after weeks of online searching. I contacted Guiseppe from that site and unfortunately he has no information about the bottle he has. He purchased it 20 years ago as part of a group of bottles from Scotland.
Ok, please do keep me posted if you come across any information as I'm very intrigued. I did also contact Glenfarclas and am currently awaiting a response.
Thanks for all your time and efforts, I greatly appreciate it. |

| I see someone has popped your question and photos onto the malt maniacs Facebook page. Good place to be! I had another look and can only find the 8yro in my books. Getting in touch with Luc Timmermans is an excellent suggestion. |

I will look up that group then as I'm curious to see what was shared, see if there have been any responses.
Who is the person that you mentioned?
As an update on my end, I heard back from Glenfarclas, Mr. Grant himself. He says my bottle matches the bottles from the case they purchased from Mr. Shrive, the only difference being that my bottle has a Missouri tax stamp.
Truly fascinating stuff and I greatly appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Becky |
