| Is there a consensus as to what whisky is in the Port Askaig releases? Caol Ila? Peated Bunnahabhain? |

Apparently it's Caol Ila. Although they have just released a 40 year old... Might be a mixture of the two? But the younger ones are Caol Ila |

From what I have tried I would say it is Caol ila, but it could easily be a peated Bunna. We will never know for sure but it will never be a mixture of the 2 as it is a single malt and not a blended malt |

I've had the 19yo and a sample of the 15yo. I'm absolutely certain that it's a Caol Ila if that helps.
Very good stuff, but in my view it was expensive for an undisclosed distillery.

Saw this too actually, for the price I think it's worth it...If the others were anything to go by. In my view they were too expensive but the 100proof is sensible and should work well with what they have going on from their casks.

I just spotted this in TWE, good value when compared to what you now pay for the Caol ila Cask Strength and if it is anyway near as good it will be very good value. Alex if you try a bottle do let us know what you think of it.

Ordered a bottle but will have to wait as it is not dispatched for 2-4 days, I wonder if this means The Whisky Exchange is starting to take pre orders like some other whisky shops already do. |

| I've bought a bottle of the 16yo Port Askaig from Amazon. It's a good whisky. I suspect that it's Caol Ila under a different name. |

Just noticed on facebook one of The Whisky Exchange staff saying that they use whisky from three different distillery's. I'm guessing Caol IlA, Bunnahabhain and ......

What I am saying is you don't have to suspect any more ( apart from which distillery goes into which bottle). But you could possibly be right about your bottle being Caol Ila.
I think many on here suspected two different distilleries used, which was confirmed by the release of the 45 year old which couldnt have been Caol Ila.
I did have something here about on line bloggers and reviews but it was unfair to those few that know what they are talking about so deleted it.

Port Askaig is a single malt not a blend so it can only come from a single distillery. |
