Has anyone tried any of these yet, I'm saving up for a few good bottles for next Christmas and they seem to have a reasonable price range, any recommendations would be most welcome, my wife has already bought me the Caol Ila 7 distilled in 2009 and bottled 2017 but I don't want to start getting more until I hear other folks thoughts on it!
Price range up to £100.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.... |

I have had a number of Old Malt Cask bottlings over the years probably more when it was bottled under the Douglas Laing label before the 2 Laing brothers split the company and the Old Malt Cask brand was then bottled by Hunter Laing.
Like any indie bottlings the range tends to vary in quality from bottle to bottle but I have never had a bad/poor OMC bottling and Caol Ila usually tends to be a reliable distillery for quality if matured in a decent cask.
The best thing I could suggest is to seek reviews of individual bottlings you are interested in buying, unfortunately these aren't always available given the limited nature of the OMC bottlings. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| As William says it will vary from bottle to bottle as is the nature of single cask whiskies but in general I have found the OMC bottlings to be good both under the Douglas Laing and Hunter Laing label although I haven't had so much OMC bottlings under Hunter Laing. |

| Did everyone overlook the word Christmas? Crikey. That's quite some planning! |

| Some of us do have to plan ahead as we don't all have a huge disposable income to dip into, but I doubt I would have the will power not to open a bottle or two long before next Christmas arrives. |

| OMC bottlings have been excellent in my experience. One of the most consistent indies. |

Thanks for that, I decided to open the Caol Ila tonight to give it a try! |
