I like the title of your Forum thread. Recently finished my bottle of Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve which I really enjoyed and have not yet replaced.

The HP25 was a particularly good one, £330 on this side of the water now

Actually saw it on a bourbon forum a while back and thought it was amusing. Lots of interesting bottle kill pics.

I've only had a few drams of the cigar malt but very much liked it!

Ah very sad indeed.. Hope it was an enjoyable bottle kill. I have 1 dram left in my Caol Ila 18, of which I am a great fan.

Agree it is a sad time usually when a bottle is finished, with a few it is actually a relief.
It does beg the question what do you do with your empties, especially if they are a very collectable bottle?
I would urge a note of caution if, like some people, you intend to sell your empties around ebay because many empty bottles get purchased by fraudsters and are re filled with cheap whisky and re sealed with a fake capsule put on them and sold on to some poor person.
Its crap but trust me it is happening, I would urge anyone on here, actually implore them. not to sell their empty bottles on ebay, especially if they are desirable bottles.

I agree. I often use a pen to deface the label before putting it in the recycling. I hope that does the trick. Then again I've yet to have any whiskies over £100 so probably not worth the effort for criminals!

Some empties I keep if they have sentimental value.

Better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all!

With expensive bottles I keep them and use bottle lights:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075MW5TKS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

or use them as a candle holder.
