Hi a quick question I've just got myself after a long search a bottle of Paul John Oloroso cask. Would like to get myself a sample bottle as main bottle going into collection does anybody know where I could find one. Thinking of starting a collection of Paul John as prices lowish at the moment and seem good value. Is anybody else collecting these.

It pretty much sold out I think, the likes of https://www.masterofmalt.com/distilleries/paul-john-whisky-distillery/ and https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/search?q=paul+john do offer samples but you would be lucky to find a sample of this.

Yes thought it's going to be an issue as the full bottles are rare enough.

I haven't come across Paul John whisky here yet but I see that it gets good reviews but is it really worth the asking price for some bottles you see in whisky shops considering they are so young? I would love to try it.

It's all about the maturation speed. Due to the high temperatures in India the Whisky matures around 2.5 times faster (possibly more) than in Scotland which means that the young age can be misleading. In the experience of the few expressions I've tried, it leads to a surprise that's very good even if it's different to a traditional long slow maturation.

There is still opportunities to try the oloroso if attending festivals in Europe, very hard to find any in the uk but there are the odd bottles around.. it won’t be too long before another opportunity comes around..
