| I am sure the XOP Ardbeg 25 year will sell out quickly but unfortunately a bit too rich for me at £900 a bottle. |

| The 50cl bottle pack of Cambus and Caol Ila 35 year old may be a more difficult one for them to shift at £450 a pack, but I am probably looking at it more through a whisky drinkers eyes than a whisky collectors eyes. |

Prima facie, the price tags on such 'premiumised' bottlings seem ludicrous, especially when similar bottlings have been sold by the same bottler at a fraction of the price.
But are the prices crazy, or are the bottlers just good judges of demand and supply?
By way of exampke, the SMWS recently released a Rosebank 26yo in its The Vaults Collection packaging. The price tag was an absolutely eye-watering £875. Yet the bottling sold out pretty quickly, and those who have re-sold at auction have seen very, very healthy returns. So, the SMWS got the price right. |

| Heard there is very few of these being distributed to UK. Likely going to sell out quickly. Drinker or keeper is the question, seen one today for sale. |

Too rich for most people as a 'drinker'.
A collectible or investment maybe?.
As I said in an earlier post about the SMWS Rosebank, people said the same as I've just done herein. And they were proved wrong.

Virtually every retailer that has advertised it (with the exception of Robbie's) is now showing out of stock. So, Douglas Laing didn't misjudge the £900 RSP

Yes, but if the retailers are only given 1 or 2 bottles, very limited distribution in UK.
Makes this gold dust?
Interesting, whisky just keeps on getting more expensive |

| There probably isn't many other whisky brands other than Ardbeg that DL could have chosen for their anniversary bottling that would have sold as quickly at this price, at least not from a distillery which is still in operation. |

No it is not worth it, but as long as people buy it things like this will continue. The worth thing will depend on whether you are a drinker, collector, investor or flipper? _________________ Pour me a glass please. |
