Hi
Newbie to the boards so please excuse jumping straight in with a request for help.
I need some help selecting a bottle for a holiday in Snowdonia
I have got it down to two but I am not sure what to do.
Glenmorangie Original - lovely, first bottle of single malt I ever had and I have loved it ever since
Talisker Storm - never had it.
(these two are both on offer at Tesco hence the shortlist)
My standard is Aldi Glen Marnoch Speyside, I recently got a mini bottle as a present from the west coast of Scotland and enjoyed it so decided to branch out a bit. I probably over-reached by getting a bottle of Laphroaig but grew to really like it by about a third of the way through.
I am going on holiday and want something less intense than the Laphroaig but maybe a bit more risky than the Morangie.
If only Tesco would let me have a little taste....
What is the best course of action, is Talisker Storm too much of an acquired taste?
I only drink neat with no water, if it is straight out of the bottle I know that whoever is serving it (if not me) can't do a bad job with it
Many Thanks |

| Welcome to the forum AlwaysOnABudget, given what you already enjoy I am sure you will enjoy Talisker, also look out for offers on the Talisker 10 and Skye, all worth a try and all usually go on offer in the supermarkets at some point and look out for offers on Amazon who give free delivery on orders over £20. |

Benromach 10 is in my view an amazing "in between" a soft Glenmo and the punch in your face of a Laphroaig. Incidentally, it's also one of the best 10 years old I've ever tasted. £33 on Amazon.
Never had a Storm myself, alas.
If you want to taste a whisky without committing the big cash, I find buying a few samples from Masters of Malt / The Whisky Exchange a good solution. |

I second the Benromach suggestion, one of the best entry-level malts out there.
From the ones available at Tesco, you won't be disappointed with the Talisker Storm. The 10 year-old is better, but the Storm is still a satisfactory expression of Talisker. I would avoid the Talisker Skye, though. |
