I am sure the trip will be a memorable experience.Tell us which whiskies have you enjoyed so far, that should help us suggest something. Are you a fan of the sherried Speyside whiskies?

Glenlivet 12
Balvenie 12
Balvenie 14
Glenmorangie 10
As for sherried whiskys apart from what’s in the balvenie (which is only slight) I’ve no real experience

How about Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year-very nice. Cheers.

A few suggestions I would make are:

Glenlivet 18
Glenfarclas 15 or 17
Glenfiddich Experimental Series Project XX
Glenfiddich 18
Glendronach 15 or 18 but you may have to stretch your budget for the 18

I agree all good suggestions posted above. Just a thought, where will you be buying the whisky, the reason I ask is travel retail offers a different selection. You will find at least a couple of travel exclusive Glenmorangie bottlings in travel retail that are worth picking up, such as Glenmorangie Duthac and Tayne

Rob makes a good point, if you are planning to buy from a airport shop of ferry shop you may not find most of the suggestions above.

I will be checking out various shops as I go so hopefully I will see some but yes I will also check out the duty fee shops etc so I’ll keep my eye open for the special editions that you have mentioned thanks everyone

Might. Be worth having a look in the local bigger supermarkets or shops in the towns.

Certain brands are definitely more popular in that neck of the woods and sometimes the prices can be better than here. Remember being surprised by some of the Aberlour available and stuff imported by La Maison Du Whisky..

When we were last there I found a dusty bottle on top of a shelf in a small grocery store and after I had got over the 50ish euro price for it ( Laphroaig 10 ) and the little old lady proprietor had got her ladder out to get it down, I bought it.

Father in laws favourite whisky and only started to wonder about the bottle when we had drunk most of it. Turns out it was a pre-royal warrant bottle from early 90s perhaps. Wish I had asked to look at the lagavulin and talisker next to the one I purchased.

Albeit I found this in the town of Albert, where we travelled to after going to Ypres, lesson I learned was always check out the whisky, wherever it might be lurking even in unlikely looking shops.

I hope you have a wonderful trip, we certainly did.

Cheers..
