First of all apologies if this in the wrong section, if so Mod's please feel free to move it but I thought as it's based on Single Malts I would put it here even though it ends up a blend!

I was watching Ralphy's video on you tube on the subject a couple of weeks ago and thought I would quite like to try this, I had a good house measure of Aultmore 12 left in the bottle then added same again of Balvenie 10 Founders reserve, the idea is to fill the bottle then take out a house measure and replace with something new, just wondered if anyone here has a bottle going and is it successful,

I like the Idea in years to come you might still be drinking even the smallest amount of a Whisky that might not be made anymore.

Tried it for a couple of years making detailed notes of how much went in, what it tasted like after etc...

Was tough work actually what sounds like a simple exercise. But you’ll learn a lot hopefully about blending and how difficult it can be.

For example - put a couple of heavy peaters in there and you’ll struggle to pick out some of the nicer drops you might have. I found that some real good sherried numbers and Japanese drams were getting drowned by the peat and not adding much to the mix.

If I did it again I would certainly consider what drams were going in and what you hope to achieve rather than a pour of each (which is what I was doing towards the end).

But you’ll only learn by experimenting!

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry but I forgot to mention this in my opening post, Yes this was also mentioned in his video so as much as I enjoy a Peaty, Smokie Dram, they will be going now where near this bottle.
