I have an unopened bottle of Knockando 1975 it is labeled Fine Single Malt. Everything I see online is labeled Pure Single Malt. I am looking for info. on the difference and possible value. Thanks, Jeff

I assume that 1975 is the distillation year, does the bottle state when it was bottled as this will certainly effect its value.

Do you have a picture? The finer detail on the label helps a lot. For example, the bottle size, bottling strength, if it's an official bottling or an Independent.....etc

I'm not sure on the difference. The "single malt" bit is the important bit. It may be that it was labelled for a different market (overseas, or duty free).

If the real question is; "is it a fake". My hunch would say "probably not". Firstly, it's not a massively commercial/well known whisky - they tend to fake easy sellers, like Macallan. Secondly, fakers are very good. They'd not missprint "pure" as "fine" if everywhere shows it at "pure". They do their homework and make fakes as hard to spot as possible.

In terms of value.....only a gut feeling, the market for vintage bottles is a little up and down, but a 12ish year old like that from the 70's is probably maxing out at £100 at auction. Less your fees (up to 20%), shipping and insurance. So, if you did get a ton them you'd only really be looking at about £65-70 after all said and done.

Of you're a whisky drinker, I'd advise you to just drink it Very Happy
