|

First time poster, long term lurker here, I've been meaning to join up and take part for a while now but most of the threads on here tend to touch upon whiskies that I will probably never be able to afford!
It's one of my closest friend's 40th birthday in June and I've been mulling over what whisky to get him on a £50ish budget. Now, he can be a bit of a fussy bugger (he's a huge fan of Glen Scotia Victoriana, Ardbeg 10, Bowmore 12, Lagavulin 16, Bruichladdich Port Charlotte and Octomore and Classic Laddie, and Aberlour 12, so all over the map), but I really like the sound of the Springbank 12yr from the reviews I've read and the YouTube vids I've seen online, it just sounds right up his alley.
The problem of course is that this bottling tends to sell out fast and I'm not sure how often they release new bottlings - is it once a year or every few months, etc? Do I have any chance of seeing a new batch release before his 40th on June 9th? Also, how does the 15yr compare to the 12yr? |

Good to have you here BigShing, there is still some of the 2018 release available from Loch Fyne Whiskies but I wouldn't leave it too long

I would add it is a annual release and I would think the 2019 release is about due but I haven't heard anything yet. |

| The Springbank 15 is good but if I had the choice I would take the 12 cask strength before the 15 |

Do you mean the cask strength version? Usually they do 2 releases one around January and one around August. So I guess your best bet is to find the January one. hopefully they still have it at a decent price somewhere.
Heres a list of past releasedates:

I thought that the 12 year old was only bottled at cask strength and that they only had one release per year which is normally around January, at least if remember correctly the 2018 and 2017 releases appeared around the beginning of the year.
BigShing I would drop them a line or even call them as I would think a bottle could be due unless they have plans to discontinue it. |

Awesome guys, thanks! I had already found a store selling it for £55 before I started this thread and was just looking for a reason to pull the trigger, which I did once Bookie confirmed it was an annual bottling. I believe the 2019 edition came out in February, but I managed to snag the last two bottles from Noble Grape. One for me, one for my friend. Free shipping as well on orders over £100. Their prices seem pretty good on the whisky they do have in stock and they've been very quick to post the bottles out, which should arrive tomorrow.
Once again, thanks! |
