Douglas Laing today unveiled the Old Particular 2019 'Elements' Single Cask Collection, a series of Old Particular Single Cask Limited Edition bottlings for 2019, inspired by the four Elements of Fire, Air, Earth and Water. The new series launches with the 'Fire', described as a mocha-spiced Craigellachie 12 Year Old from a well-fired and characterful Sherry butt..

| I wouldn't say a Craigellachie 12 Year Old even at cask strength qualifies for a £95 price tag |

I'm a big fan of OP bottling, they rarely disappoint. They aren't the cheapest, but they represent a good bang for your buck as well as your palate.
Now 90+ quid for a 12 yo... I thought their Mortlach 12 at around 59 quid was already pushing it (though it is delicious), now this...
I mean, if they wanna milk it by releasing a few LE's that's fine, as long as they keep releasing "normal" editions (that are always quite limited anyway) caring for what's inside the bottle more than what's on the label. |

| DL are consistent with quality in my experience but they are going a bit OTT with the marketing and limited editions which in this case as pointed out doesn't appear to be that special to warrant the price, I guess they need to pay for the new distillery somehow. |

The ledaig 15 single cask I thought was brilliant. But at 90 quid real steep.
This takes the biscuit. |

Big fan of DL, but refusing to buy the bottlings at moment. Prices are brutal, big jumps over the last 2-3 years. Another run with marketting but more expensive than ever. I did let DL know my observation and frustration and the reply was along the lines it's worth it.
ive got a set of consortium of cards that would be willing to part with, say £1000. Its worth it 😠|
