Just got this email from Highland Park announcing 2 new expressions which they have bottled in partnership with former F! driver David Coulthard

Quote:
We’re delighted to announce our exciting partnership with David Coulthard, the Scottish F1 champion whose skill, dedication and determination make him, in our eyes, a true modern day Viking Soul. Together, we’re launching two Highland Park whiskies – SALTIRE EDITION 1 and SALTIRE EDITION 2 – both created to support local charities and communities in Dumfries and Galloway, where David grew up.

United by community spirit
Inspired by our ORKNEYINGA LEGACY and RNLI STROMNESS LIFEBOAT ANNIVERSARY bottlings, sales of which support communities here in Orkney, David was keen to establish a partnership that would enable him give something back to Dumfries and Galloway, to the region and the people who supported him from his earliest days in Formula 1.

13 celebrations
Under the expert guidance of Gordon Motion, our Master Whisky Maker, David selected the whisky for these two bespoke bottlings during his visit to our distillery last year, choosing casks aged for 13 years to reflect his 13 Grand Prix wins. The SALTIRE EDITION name and packaging are inspired by Scotland’s national flag – the iconic symbol proudly displayed on David’s F1 crash helmets and cars.

SALTIRE EDITION 1 | SINGLE CASK BOTTLING | 43% ABV | RSP: £139.00
Sweet and spicy, with notes of warm vanilla, citrus zest and fiery ginger, each bottle from this 13 year old single cask has been hand-signed by David. We expect demand for SALTIRE EDITION 1 to exceed the small number of bottles available so, to make things fair, we are running a ballot for the chance to buy a bottle – it means no one will be in pole position! You can register to enter the ballot from today until midnight (UK time) on Thursday 7th March by clicking on the link below.

SALTIRE EDITION 2 | SPECIAL EDITION BOTTLING | 43% ABV | RSP: £55.00
This smooth and full-bodied 13 year old single malt whisky delivers fruity notes of caramelised mango and sun-ripened lemon peel, balanced by warming hints of root ginger, silky vanilla and spicy cinnamon. Available exclusively from the Highland Park online shop, this special edition will be released later this Spring, but you can register to reserve a bottle now – just click on the link below.

I entered the ballot for the Saltire Edition 2 at £55

I don’t think it’s a ballot for the second bottle I think that’s just to reserve a bottle the number one bottle is the one you have to ballot for

No mention of how limited either one is but a lot of new releases from highland park recently

Just to update a thibk it’s about 734 bottles of the edition 1

Your right last dram Embarassed ,I copied and posted the email here to let others know and hadn't submitted my reservation yet as I was going to do it from my desktop rather than a free wifi connection I was on my mobile at the time. Looks like I am getting a bottle then.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it a bit mad that Highland Park feel like they need to do a ballot for a 13 year old whisky watered down to 43% priced at £139!! ?

but David Colthard has touched each bottle individually and this is an exclusive limited edition, one time only offer. It’s had an extra year to develop over the standard 12 yo, so obviously worth the extra £100. I’ve put in for two.
