Scotch whisky exports to the United States which last year were worth £1bn ($1.3bn), with Scotch single malt whiskies accounting for a 33% of that figure, are set to face a tariff of 25% from 18 October, the new duty is part of a raft of measures being imposed by the US in retaliation against EU subsidies given to aircraft maker Airbus.

Single malts have characteristically been much cheaper in the USA as compared to here in Canada. I guess this is about to change.
