|

The Kilchoman 2nd Release is available from the Kilchoman website from today. Priced at £45 plus £10 postage and limited to 2 bottles per customer and if you get 2 bottles you pay £20 postage.
This Kilchoman Autumn 2009 release was matured for 3 years in fresh and refill bourbon barrels then finished for 2.5 months in Olorosso sherry butts.
I wondered what others thought of this kind of pricing for something that is barely whisky, it is basically £55 per bottle. Would you pay this kind of money or would you rather wait a few years. As i have no interest in collecting whisky, i would rather drink it, to me this is a rediculous price but i am sure many will pay it.

£55 for a 3 year old whisky - now that is some profit.
I can see the collectability of the bottle but like you Charlie i am not a collector so i would not pay £55 for a 3 year old whisky. With this pricing, i wonder what price we will be paying in another 7-9 years.

I think i will be waiting a few years before buying any Kilchoman and besides it as said above the 1st release would have been more collectable. £55 can get you a very nice aged malt.

If someone had told me 10 years ago that we would be paying £55 for 3 year old whisky i would have laughed.

I spotted a bottle of the first release on ebay last night, bids starting at £150 but no bids. I heard this release is around 10000 bottles anyone know.

Mark, I had heard 10000 mentioned for this 2nd release, i think the first release was about 8500. I cant see this 2nd release in The Whisky Exchange yet but i guess it will probably be the same price of £45 but the postage is a few quid cheaper at TWE.

Cheers Alastair for the info, it is not as limited as you would think.
I see The Whisky Exchange have it in stock now at £44.99
