| This is a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone here has visited Japanese distilleries? My wife and I are planning a trip to Japan next year and I'm sure our itinerary will take us close to a distillery or two. I'd be interested to know what I can expect tour-wise, and whether they're similar to Scotch distilleries regarding distillery exclusive bottles etc. |

Hi Alex. A few thoughts. I was in Japan in 1981 and toured the country extensively. I did go on an indepth saki distillery tour with many samples. It's worth the effort if you're near one. I also had a vertical tasting of Suntory whiskies but not at a distillery. I know Suntory Yamazaki Distillery does tours these days. That's all I know. Cheers. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| Thanks Murray, I must admit I hadn't even thought of sake, I'll keep that in mind. Our tentative plan will take us close to Yamazaki so a tour there would be on the cards, although I'd probably be more keen to visit Hakushu. |
