I decided to open my bottle of The Glenlivet Cipher 48% ABV today and here are my own taste notes:
Color:Tarnished Gold
Nose: Sweet, black plums,, intense crème brûlée , cotton candy, orange marmalade, vanilla bean, prune nectar, peanut shells, straw, fortune cookie (with paper in), rice pudding,. shades of tapioca, strawberry jam, peanut brittle and caramel popcorn. Honey is the force that binds here.
Taste: Full-bodied, syrupy, dark stewed fruit, candy apples, milder sweet plums, spice white caps on top of perseverating sweet waves.
Finish: Long, black cherry sauce, sweet but light black licorice with a mouth-watering element. Blackball candy and shades of port wine-sherry infusion.
Comments: A kaleidoscopic ever changing nose with profound sweet fruit and candy essences. Not a perfumery offering rather brandishes boundless deep sweet tones. A thicker more substantial whisky from Glenlivet. A perfect dram as a dessert after a robust meal.
Score: 95 _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
