This thread refers to your personal 10 to 15 highest regarded or best Scottish single malts that you have ever tasted either at tastings or from own bottles or any other occasion to have tasted them. This includes your adult life time history of enjoying single malts. You don't have to rate them in order nor rank them but simply to list them.

Here are my 15 but you could limit your list to 5 or 10:-

My selections are simply listed and not ranked:

Gordon & MacPhail Rare Vintage Glen Grant 1952, 59 Years 11 Months 40% ABV
Macallan No. 6 Lalique 43% ABV
Bowmore The Devil’s Casks 10 First Release 56.9% ABV
Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old Port Ellen 35 Year, 46% ABV 1980
Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 27 Year 1989
Glenmorangie Signet 46% ABV
Caol Ila 22 Year Feis Ils 2019
Mortlach 25 Year, 43.4% ABV
The Singleton of Glendullan 38 Year 59.8% ABV
Douglas Laing Old Malt Cask Ardbeg 1967 32 year 49% ABV
Longmorn 23 48% ABV
Gordon & MacPhail Rosebank 25 Year 1990 46%
Tamnavulin 45 Year 1968 Cask 10279 40.1% ABV
Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX 46% ABV
Glen Ord 30 Year 58.7% ABV

I have to give honorable mention to a blended/vatted malt-John Walker & Son Odyssey 40% ABV

I have many other favorites but I tried to be as selective as possible. Cheers.

Thanks for your reply Pete. I've had a few from your list in the past. Excellent whiskies. Cheers.

Won't your list just be made up of 'toshen Laughing

I don't think I can even remember....a few that stick out in my mind are;

Balblair 1983/30yo
Cambus Sovereign 50yo
Benriach 1990/2012 Single cask Tawny port finish
Ardbeg. Mid 70's, think it was a 75 if I remember correctly but wasn't my bottle.

Great list, a nice spread. Smile

Not sure If I could limit it to less than 30 to be honest, perhaps it should be those wow moments, regardless of scores, I will have a think about that one.

My top drams ever would be
Auchentoshan 32yo 1979 official Bottling ( All time favourite)
Highland Park 27 yo Old Malt Cask ( Changed my perception on whisky )
Invergordon 42 yo Boutiquey Whisky ( Just stunning )
22yo Blend - That Boutiquey Whisky ( Amazing whisky )
Glen Grant 1948 ( Purely for Nostalgia)
Glenfarclas 1953 Family Cask ( Almost perfect )

There are many others but not sure I have the patience to whittle them down beyond these..

Certainly wouldn’t add any Port Ellen or Macallan as they don’t stand out as stunning and just feel like a bragging whisky to me..

Superb list Sorren. Regarding my selection of Macallan No.6 Lalique on my list. It is among the very best whiskies I have ever tasted even though it is NAS. It was a surprise to me that it rated so very high but "I call them as I see them" and the proof was in the glass. Cheers my friend.

These whiskies I genially thought `wow` when I tasted them, not in any order.

Balblair 1966 38 year OB, my first wow bottle
Laphroaig 1974 31 year OB for LMDW, perfect in every way
Glen Cawdor 1964 Duthies for Samaroli
Brora 1972 29 year Brorazilla DL Platinum, a monster of a whisky (better than the Brorageddon)
Clynelish 1965 Cadenhead for Nibanda (Brora)
Glenlochy 1965 Silent Stills SV
Geln Garioch 1975 12 year Coilltean, Duthies for Samaroli
Glenfiddich 1956 29 year Intertrade, so delicate
Glenfarclas 21 year unblended 51.5% for Edward Giaccone
Longrow 1974/87 56% Samaroli (best longrow ever)
Tormore 1966 Samaroli
Highland Park 1972 24 year The Bottlers cask 1637, the best HP of any age I have tried
Springbank 30 year dumpy bottle 1990's light vatting, super stuff
Brora 3rd Release 2004 (closely followed by the 2005)
Port Ellen 12 year James Macarthur, sorry but its in here because its 12 years old and an experience at that % abv, a different animal to all the aged stuff whether OB or IB.
Caol Ila 1974 17 year Signatory 61.1% casks 5-9, superb, this one blew me away

There are lots I could list in an honourable mention malts wise but I will name this one
Arran 1996 18 year Jack Weibers 48.9% bourbon cask.
I do not rate Arran whisky the OB I have had have been pretty bland but this bourbon cask was almost flawless, I like bourbon casks, I think I rated this higher than most people.

Vatted Malt
Islay Trilogy 1969 Murray Mcdavid

Blends
Huntly Fine Old Scotch whisky 1940's
Hudson Bay 15 year 1950`s US bottle
Mackies Ancient Brand (Maltmill)
Campbell's Special Reserve full proof, Campbell, Hope & King
White Horse 1939
Ainslie's Edinburgh Choice 1950's
JW Red, an old 60`s bottle (as far removed from today's offering as you can imagine)

Thanks for taking the time to put this comprehensive and most impressive list together. These first class whiskies not only represent a great liquid timeline and variations in ABV but an individual's ability and motivation to try some of the very best whiskies on earth. Cheers.

Like most people I want to taste as good a whisky as I can but I also think you need to try whisky across the full spectrum of ages and prices, going into blends of every description has been a real adventure for me.
There were lots of others I could mention but those were the ones that basically really left me wanting more.
The best whiskies are the ones that taste great for a reasonable price, if you can still find them?

Yes, I quite agree with you on your points and I would extend that to other types of whiskies beyond single malts to Canadian blended whiskies, American bourbons and other world whiskies.
