Hi I was wondering where your all prefer to buy your malts from
I get mine from a lot of places but our local Waitrose has a very good selection from all over the world and the service is excellent even allowing tastings and returns but not all of Waitrose stores are of the same standard
Our Tesco is useless there is very limited selection and no knowledge whatsoever
We don’t have a specialised whisky store but when I visit my son in Lincoln the whisky shop has a good selection but is very overpriced.
The shops in Edinburgh are incredible if I lived there I’d be in heaven the selection is out of this world and the service is something to behold and so many shops wow.
Anyway it would be good to hear from you all your opinions |

| Poor cobra , no whisky shops close to you, I have one in Cupar called luvians and it's amazing, it's like a old book shop with shelves and shelves of whisky with ladders to get the top stuff, me also find my nearest tesco useless, I've got a sainsburys local and asda and morrisons close . |

Mostly on line for me as the local options are very poor.
Occasionally Waitrose or the others if they have a deal on when I am in shopping for other things.
I would love to support a local enterprise, but if it aint there you have no choice.
As we go to Scotland every year on holiday that has become a chunk of my yearly expenditure. Too much temptation! |

Supermarket whisky is supermarket whisky.
My life changed when I discovered Master of Malt and then later The Whisky Exchange! Almost exclusively from them now as their prices and ranges are incredible. |

Amazon as on Prime it's a big saving on delivery charges
Costco when I'm there
Costco Online
I check supermarkets of course, looking for the standards that are at a bargain price. But nowadays I buy independant bottlers direct from them such as Chorlton Whisky and Whisky Broker, however I get many via the North East Whisky Association that I'm part of, we tend to buy enmasse from wholesalers so get bottles cheaper that way. |

| I am very lucky to have two Independent shops plus The Whisky shop (Very expensive) and all the Supermarkets. But I still find myself buying online as even the Indi shops would have to sometimes order in what I wanted so it is quicker to just order it myself... |

| Oh, I forgot to mention that I travel fairly regularily and my partner works for World Duty Free so I'm able to plan and buy Whisky on trips a bit better, although the range of exclusives are getting less and less impressive these days. |

Waitrose has a good selection and I also use Lincoln Whisky shop for the odd bottle but I have purchased most of mine on line, in particular from Holland and some from Germany, even with postage you can make a good saving, crazy when you think that UK shops for anything over the usual supermarket offerings is cheaper to buy from another country.
Most UK shops are far too greedy. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

Most of the whisky I buy is not available on supermarkets so I buy online almost exclusively. Occasionally I buy from supermarkets to stock up on some staple malts when there are offers - and Waitrose is very good with having a bigger selection.
Amazon has mostly replaced supermarkets for me when it comes to buying more mainstream malts that come on offer - such as when Glengoyne 12 was on a flash sale a few days ago.
But the bulk of my collection comes from specialist shops (TWE and Master of Malt) and, more recently, auctions. With the recent demise of the Balblair vintages I've been focusing on stocking up on some of my favourites, both from TWE and from auction sites. (there are some bargains to be found there but of course you need to be careful as you don't want to be too caught up with the fear of missing out on something) |

How do you find the purchasing side of auction sites? I keep being tempted to sign up but after the 10% commission plus expensive postage (£7.50 i think?) it would nearly always work out more than i would want to spend |
