What are fellow collectors' thoughts on bottlings which are independent and don't disclose the distillery where the whisky was produced?
Or, before parting with your hard earned cash, do you prefer to know exactly where your whisky came from? |

I don't see how you can know a whisky is from a closed distillery if the distillery has not been disclosed
It depends on your reason for collecting, is it for an investment if so knowing where the whisky was produced would be important, if the name hasn't been disclosed and the whisky has received rave reviews then it could still be a good collectable investment.
If it is not for profit and to drink at a later date then knowing if the whisky in the bottle is any good is most important to me.

Sorry to be picky but the question in todays whisky world does not apply. If a whisky is from a closed distillery it will always be mentioned because that is the main selling point.
If it is from am open distillery it matters much less, just look at all the undisclosed early 1970`s Speyside offerings, most are Glenfarclas but, what is important to buyers is what they taste like.
Anything with good taste ratings and good reviews (if they are genuine of course?) will always sell better. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I don’t bother with undisclosed bottlings. I want to know what I’m getting before parting with my hard earned.
Just because it might give a region like Speyside, I can think of one or two Speyside distilleries I’m not impressed with, so wouldn’t bother.
Would it be a contractual reason the distillery isn’t mentioned? |
