Hi Guys

I have 100's of bottles in my collection all kept in boxes in a room with no natural light and at 15'c and all the fill levels have stayed the same as when I brought them.

But I have been looking at the bottles in the "The Perfect Collection" on the Whisky Auctioneer and looking at the fill levels a lot of them seem low. Now given the guy that owned them and how they where kept I can not work out how they have dropped.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I noticed that too.
Can't remember offhand where he comes from but I can only assume that they've been kept in a relatively warm atmosphere and have suffered a bit of evaporation.
I have started to parafilm my more expensive bottles despite there being no real evidence of losses. Just in case!

Surely it is down to storage conditions and perhaps a not so tight fitting stopper/cork on the odd bottle.

Agreed, that's the obvious answer.
It will be interesting to see if final values are impacted by the levels in the bottles.

I doubt it, these days people don`t seem to worry about it. A few years back you could get Rare Malts bottles with a low fill level for a knockdown price at auctions but now in the last 2 year you can't.
All I know my bids have been exceeded already, drat ;(
